Middle Island is situated one hundred metres off the southern shore of Hong Kong Island, between Deepwater Bay and Repulse Bay. It is the home to only two inhabitants: Aberdeen Boat Club’s middle island clubhouse and Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club’s middle island facility. Middle Island is home to the Club’s dinghy fleet and also serves as ABC's sail training centre, complete with a purpose-built classroom. It has an array of smaller fun craft for hire. There are men's and women's changing rooms with individual lockers, hot and cold showers and a first aid post. The Middle Island Clubhouse is the perfect spot for pre- and post-race socialising or simply hanging out with the children. Whether you hire a dinghy or kayak, help your little ones fish, paddle in the clean water or just sit in the shade and enjoy the view, it’s one of the quietest and most relaxing spots to be found so close to the city. For larger vessels there are swinging moorings and limited pontoon moorings, which are available for members. Use of these can be arranged with the Marine Services Manager on 2552 8182 Ext. 835 or e-mail HERE The Middle Island Clubhouse is presently open Tuesday - Sunday. Sailing activities often take place during the week with a lot of school sailing courses happening during afternoons. Dinghy hiring is also available, but by prior arrangement. Access to ABC Middle Island is possible by means of a regular ferry from the main clubhouse (every half hour at weekends, and by request on weekdays). Alternatively Middle Island may be reached via the Seaview Promenade and the RHKYC Sampan, download an access map HERE |
